ABOUT US
The Portal Studios is an ambitious emerging production company with a focus on access and diversity within film and television. Creative and strategic, we are committed to producing engaging and entertaining content that showcases under-represented voices both in front of and behind the camera. Based in Glasgow, our aim is to become an iconic, successful, and global player in the film and television industry by creating daring, bold, relatable, and engaging scripted films, short form, and television shows for Scottish, UK and international audiences.
We want to tell authored stories in amazing ways, working with talented writers and filmmakers with strong, unique voices, and co-produce these projects with accomplished producers and production companies. With a focus on access, we support the development of new trainees, building their skills and equipping them with the tools and hands on experience required to progress onto entry level positions within the film and television industry. We want to be brilliant at what we do and have as much fun as possible as we do it.
Creating stories with people, not just about people, being daring with our subject matter...
VALUES
We will put our values at the heart of everything we do.
Everyone is different, but by working with people whose values align with ours we will nurture, support and champion the individuality of our staff, writers, filmmakers, co-producers, and everyone we work with.
For us it’s simple. We value respect; for our staff, the people we’re working with, and the projects we are excitedly working hard to create.
We value expression of voice and want people to feel empowered to speak and be heard as they share their creative thoughts and opinions.
We value open communication and healthy debate, but again respect has to be at the heart of this. As part of this, we value our ability to self-reflect.
We value co-creation and the ideas and stories of others! We are excited to cultivate these and will work collaboratively and honestly with people exploring their ideas and supporting their creative voices.
We value being an organisation that is championing change in the way Neurodivergent people work within the film and television industry.
We value the knowledge, ideas, and experience of those we work with, and want to position ourselves in such a way that we are always growing and developing both The Portal Studios and ourselves as we do so.

OUR USP
The Portal Studios is the production arm of The Portal Arts charity. Established in 2001, and with over twenty years’ experience, our focus has always been the creation of engaging, impactful, audience focused films.
We believe our USP is our track record of working directly with under-represented people at a grassroots level. Our unique approach gets right to the heart of the contemporary zeitgeist, creating stories with people, not just about people, being daring with our subject matter, giving unheard voices an opportunity to reach a wider audience.
The Portal Studios first commission, Working Differently, is a short documentary style film about the importance of Neurodivergent people working within the Scottish film and television industry. Commissioned by Screen Scotland, the film is co-produced with Blazing Griffin Pictures, with partnership support from BECTU Vision.
We are currently developing a slate of authored stories in scripted features, shorts, and television. We are also interested in the digital space and looking to explore the creation of TikTok culture content and Podcasts.
